Some people look for this as an ERP for coal traders. It is that kind of system, built for the coal trade rather than adapted from a general one: buying and auctions, stock and yards, trucks and transporters, quality, sales and GST billing, collection and accounts.

Not included yet: live GPS tracking, a weighbridge connection, or a connection to the government e-way bill portal (you attach the official e-way bill PDF). Marking a bill cancelled or extended here updates your own record only — the bill the portal issued has to be cancelled or extended there. A rail lifting can be recorded with its rake number, but full rake operations are built and not switched on.

Pending orders, each customer's outstanding, and a warning past their credit limit
Tax on each invoice from the two GSTINs — CGST and SGST or IGST — with HSN rates and coal cess, plus GST, TCS and TDS registers

Not included yet: anything that talks to the government systems. Returns are filed on the GST portal by you or your CA, your GSTR-2B is not read back into Coal Boss, and e-invoicing (IRN) is not operational. The connection for all of that is being finalised; filing is deliberately outside it, because filing needs a signature flow we would rather not approximate.

Coal Boss does not connect to banks or hold money, and Tally is exchanged as files, not synced. Each person is attached to one company — there is no switching between companies — and the owner's overview is combined across them.

Can someone quietly change a figure?

Entries show who made them and when, key records such as orders, dispatches and settlements keep a history of changes, closed periods can be locked, and approvals show who decided.

Will you sell or share my data?

No. Your business data is never sold, and never shared without your authorisation, except where the law requires it.

Is the connection safe?

Everything between your browser and Coal Boss travels over encrypted HTTPS.

Where does it run? What about backups?

On managed cloud hosting, so there are no servers for you to look after. Ask us for the current backup and recovery arrangement — we would rather show it to you than describe it here.

Is my data separate from other businesses?

Yes, and it is enforced rather than promised. Which business you belong to is taken from your sign-in, never from the request, so a request that does not carry it is refused rather than widened. Every commercial document is stamped with the company it belongs to, from that same trusted source, and a company named in the request itself is ignored. Tests hold that line.

Is there two-step sign-in?

No — there is no two-step sign-in or authenticator app today, and we would rather say so than let you assume it. What does protect an account: repeated wrong passwords lock it for a while, sign-in attempts are rate-limited, a forgotten-password link is single-use and expires, and an owner or admin can deactivate someone immediately. Each person also only reaches the screens you give them.

Do we need an IT person?

No. There is nothing to install or maintain on your side.

No online system can promise absolute security. Coal Boss applies encrypted connections, access controls and a record of changes; every business should also keep its own passwords and devices in good order.

Talking to the government tax systems
The GST side of your trade is live today — tax on every invoice, the GST, TCS and TDS registers, e-way bill details and validity. What is not live is anything that reaches a government system: putting an e-way bill on the portal or cancelling one there, registering an invoice for an IRN, or reading your GSTR-2B back. That connection is being finalised and is not switched on, so none of it works from Coal Boss today, and there is no date. Filing returns is deliberately outside it — filing needs a signature flow, and we would rather not do it at all than approximate it.
On the roadmap
Import, washery, export and ship
Buying imported coal from an importer, and buying from or selling to a washery, work today as ordinary purchases and sales. The import lifecycle — bill of entry, customs, port release — running a washery itself, export trade, and sea movement are not available. They stay on the roadmap, with no date.

Liaison-service billing and deeper forecasting
The records a liaisoning business runs on are live — PSU auctions, SODO, DO allocation and lifting. Billing for the liaison service itself, and forecasting built on your own records, are not available today.

Mobile app
Coal Boss runs in the phone's browser today and can be added to the home screen. There is no offline mode. A separate app stays on the roadmap, with no date.
