Question 1

What is Coal Boss, in one line?

Accepted Answer

Software for running a coal business — buying, yard stock, trucks, billing and collection in one place, so you can see where your coal and your money are without calling around.

Question 2

We already use Tally. Why would we need Coal Boss?

Accepted Answer

Tally keeps the books. Coal Boss runs the coal work before the books — purchases and auctions, yard stock and quality, trucks and weights, and who owes what. You can import your existing Excel or Tally exports; it is file import and export, not a live sync with Tally.

Question 3

Is it an ERP?

Accepted Answer

It has the accounts, stock and billing you would expect from an ERP, but it is built around coal — GCV and quality, PSU auctions, SODO and lifting, yard stock, trips and e-way bill details — so you are not bending general software to fit.

Question 4

What does "Business Operating System" mean here?

Accepted Answer

Only that the whole business runs on one record: each person enters their own part, and everyone who is allowed sees the same, up-to-date picture.

Question 5

Who builds Coal Boss?

Accepted Answer

A team based in Nagpur that works on coal software and nothing else, led by founder Neeraj Agrawal, building for coal businesses across India. The product is shaped by how the coal trade actually runs — weighment, quality, dispatch, collection — and you talk to the people who build it, on WhatsApp or phone.

Question 6

Is Coal Boss connected to Coal India or the government?

Accepted Answer

No. Coal Boss is an independent private business. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Coal India, MSTC or any government body.

Question 7

Does it generate e-way bills?

Accepted Answer

Coal Boss prepares and tracks the e-way bill details from the invoice and trip — distance, validity, vehicle changes, extensions and cancellation — and you attach the official e-way bill PDF. It is not connected to the government e-way bill portal yet, so the official bill itself is still generated on the portal, and cancelling one here updates your own record rather than the portal. The connection is being finalised by the team, with no date from us.

Question 8

Who is Coal Boss for?

Accepted Answer

Traders, PSU auction buyers, stockists, depot operators, distributors and industrial consumers of coal — and the trading side of a washery business. (Software for running the washery itself is not available; it stays on the roadmap.) A one-yard trader and a multi-branch company use the same flow.

Question 9

We are a small business. Is it too much for us?

Accepted Answer

No. Start with what hurts most — usually stock and outstanding — and add the rest later. Each person only sees their own part, so it stays simple.

Question 10

We have several branches, yards or companies. Does it handle that?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Head office sees everything together; each branch or yard sees its own part.
